occupy lsx part 2

Any one who has read the comments from the last post will realise I was attempting to get some clarification on who was behind the web presence of occupylsx.og.
All we have so far is that the ‘gentleman’ who registered the site claims nothing to do with the content since that time. The site itself I notice is now full of comments reasonably asking that there be some clarity of who controls financial dealings within the organisation. Given that they are demanding the same from the City of London I do not think these requests in the least unreasonable. The responses so far seem to be – we don’t have time/ that will take a lot of work/ why should we- and variations along those lines. As I have said before I fully support the occupy movement in principle- but what is actually happening is not ok. If it were a genuine protest against financial dealings in the city, the protesters would be working at making themselves financially transparent to give themselves leverage in this very signifigant battle.
Instead they are organising banquets, concerts and generally acting as if they are at a free festival.
Another issue of great concern is that they did not speak out about the arrest of 170 members of the public, who had committed no crime, last week. I know it was the EDL and everyone is supposed to hate them so thats ok, but in actual fact its not ok. A tenuous threat had been published on facebook by one person suggesting the occupy site may be attacked but the arrests happened very far from the site of the supposed attack and there was no evidence to suggest the attack was actually going to happen. It reminded me of the way Black boys are rounded up and arrested in south london on the way to carnival- because they might be going to cause trouble. My point is are the occupiers too blind to see that this type of policing is going to be used against them soon enough, or against their children, and if they don’t speak out now then really what are they protesting about? Or do they only care about those who they feel affinity with – their own 1%

Is no-one else concerned that a group whose main demands seem to be for ‘transparency’ has failed to make clear that its own website occupylsx.org is registered in the name of a treasurer of a UK political party?
I for one find this shocking. This party, although as yet unelected, had 9 candidates stand for parliament in 2010. Its policies etc – can be seen here http://www.pirateparty.org.uk/ . It may seem a harmless enough joke of a political party at first glance but there is much to be considered. The fact that its members are deeply embedded within the public face of the occupy movement without declaring their political interests seems underhand in the extreme. It should also be noted that the german version of the party entered parliment there this autumn http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/sep/18/pirate-party-germany-berlin-election?intcmp=239.
I personally am very wary of any political party that starts becoming successful in germany – with support in Britain- perhaps this is a false cultural memory reaction, but unfortunately I suspect not.
The most worrying aspect of a party that believes in internet freedoms above all else, but is associated with a movement that blames the banks for everything that is wrong in our society , is the lack of deep thought. Of course most of the world is in a trance- in thrale to technology as a good thing – and this occupy movement is failing to acknowledge that much of what is going so badly wrong with the financial world is due to its increasing digitisation http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn18900-briefing-computer-traders-blamed-for-wall-street-crash.html.
The occupy movement seems to think there is a small percentage of greedy individuals messing it up for everybody, when in fact most of the decreasing social mobility and financial trauma of the past decade can be landed firmly at the door of computing technology. This same technology which the occupy movement embraces as a freedom and a right – as does the Pirate Party
I’m scared- but I am as scared by the occupiers as by the government.
Neither are even remotely on the right track. And for the record I have tried to support the occupy movement as I am badly affected by ‘the cuts’ I need hope but this is not it.
I have written this quickly – I hope some of the journalists who are payed to research such things will start to do so.

So sad to hear of his demise , I always found him to be surprisingly likeable , a genuine charming gentleman. Irreplaceable.
